Your match Your decision your reputation
ANSWER This video was a high level match and it shows how important it is not to lose focus on who the 2nd last defender really is!
Well done all the obvious offside was apparently not so obvious to the match officials lol The mention of the possible foul at the very beginning is an opinion but the fact of offside as a fact was the reason we posted the video. Play needed to be stopped on that first outgoing pass. Even at the highest levels losing focus creates problems. There are FOUR offside positioned players not two and the correct restart is an INDFK about 7 yds from the mid line inside the center circle although the new offside interpretation coming might have it where one of the 4 actually touched the ball we shall see. I suspect the officials here in their match with that decision did little to help their reputation!
Patrick Champlin MN USA Referee First at 0:03 in the video the red player makes contact with the blue player and doesn't ever make a play on the ball. I'd whistle the foul there. If for some reason I allowed play to continue, the break away situation sees a forward pass to Benteke while he is in a offside position. In fact all red players in the frame at 0:08 are offside restricted players, it wouldn't matter who the ball went to there should be an offside call. This is all assuming there are no other defenders outside the frame of the video.
Lucas Lazzaroni Coquitlam British Columbia Canada Referee When the pass came in, all 4 Liverpool players in Leicester's half were offside. Since Leicester's goalkeeper had come up, there was only 1 Leicester player between Benteke (who received the pass) and the goal. The offside rule states there must be 2 players between the attacker and the goal. Usually this is a goalkeeper and a defender but since the Leicester keeper came up there was only 1. The correct call should've been an offside against Liverpool.
Filipe Almeida London United Kingdom Other Offside. There was only one defender between goal and attacking team and receiver (as all other 3) was past the half way line
