Question Number: 12303

Kicks From The Penalty mark 3/5/2006

RE: Rec Under 12

Doug English of Lantzville, Canada asks...

This question is a follow up to question 12148

Can the team substitute the goalie during penalty kick without an injury taking place to the goalie. For example after the keeper lets a goal in can the team substitute him for the next shot.

Answer provided by Referee Keith Contarino

The keeper may be replaced by an onfield player. Unless l.ocal rules allow it, he may not be substituted out for a player on the bench.

Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer

During kicks from the penalty mark only an injured goalkeeper may be replaced, provided his side has not used the maximum number of substitutes permitted under the competition rules.

An eligible (presently on the field) outfield player may change places with the goalkeeper at any when kicks from the penalty mark are being taken.

Regards,
