Question Number: 12894Kicks From The Penalty mark 5/26/2006RE: rec Under 19 ian ross of vancouver, BC canada asks...At the end of a tied game to decide a winner, kicks from the penalty spot are taken. If the ball rebounds from the goalkeeper back to the player can the player score or is the kick over once the goalie makes the save? With a penalty kick that takes place during normal playing a rebound from the goalkeeper would be fair game for the penalty taker. Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer The kicker is limited to the one touch. If it hits him again the kick is over.

View Referee Chuck Fleischer profileAnswer provided by Referee Richard Dawson HI Ian, in a shoot out the correct term is KFTPM (kicks from the penalty mark ) they are different than a PK because there is no additional time for anything other than the shot entering the goal or not entering the goal. NO secondary play by the shooter is allowed , As you correctly stated in regulation play a rebound off the goalkeeper is availasble to be player NOT in a shootout situation! To do so might land the player with a caution for USB or possibly a send off for VC if the keeper was to be injured as that ball is UNPLAYABLE! Cheers
