Question Number: 12919Kicks From The Penalty mark 5/29/2006RE: select Under 19 Ben Glass of Fairfax, VA usa asks...During kicks from the penalty spot to decide a tie game, you send of the GK for some good reason. Where does the new GK come from? Those on the field at the end? The substitutes bench (assuming team has not used it allotment of subs)? Assuming the team has an eligible substitute GK, may that player replace a player that had already taken a kick? Does it matter? Answer provided by Referee Keith Contarino The only time the keeper may be substituted for by a player not eligible to take a kick, (i.e. a player not on the field at the end of the game), is if the keeper is injured. If he's sent off, one of his teammates that is on the field must take his place.

As Always,
