Question Number: 13339Kicks From The Penalty mark 7/13/2006RE: Rec Under 11 Lance of Edmond, OK USA asks...If a team has a player sent off during the course of a match and the game ends in a tie (thus sending it to PKs), what happens if the PKs are tied through the end of the 10th players? Does the 11th for the full side take his kick and if he makes it that side wins (other team defaults their 11th kick) or would the team playing a player short go back to the 1st shooter (all available players have shot)? Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson Hi Lance, there is a clause in KFTPM that states we are to reduce the side with more players to the same level as the opposing team. The Captain points out to the referee which player(s) will NOT participate. The player(s) are removed from the field of play and two equal sides of the same number of players take their place at centre circle! We call it reduce to equate proceedure performed at the end of regulation time! Cheers

And I agree with the comment above that it is a most unfortunate and unfulfilling way to determine a winner. All the best,
