Question Number: 15857Law 7 - Match Duration 6/22/2007RE: Competitive Adult Scott L. Smith of Tampa, FL USA asks...When stoppage time is announced, is that the minimum or maximum amt, excluding any additional time that may be added while stoppage time is being played? Answer provided by Referee Jon [Withheld] MINIMUM. As you will hear announced at EPL games, "The referee has indicated a minimum of 3 minutes stoppage time". This can extend to whatever the referee sees fit, and stoppages in stoppage time will be added on too.

View Referee Jon [Withheld] profileAnswer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer Allowance for time lost may be made at the end of each period of play. It is at the referee's discretion and is usually a minimum amount. though some referees consider it an approximation.
