Question Number: 16391Mechanics 8/21/2007RE: Competitive Under 18 Al of Sarnia, ON CANADA asks...This question is a follow up to question 16365 The double PK is probably the funniest incident I have read about since I began reading asktheref. Never experienced something quite that brilliant. An outstanding referee indeed, especially if coach got to steam off in parking lot.
Had a similar incident one night last season. I awarded foul 20 yards from goal. Defender showed disagreement with my ability to see when I'm less than 10 yards away. I warned him -- "No more!" He continued his rant and decided a Caution was needed for the free kick to be taken correctly.
Free kick ends up in goal. Loud mouth goes at it again and is suddenly staring at 2nd yellow chunk of plastic within 30 seconds. It then magically disappeared and was replaced by a red one. A team mate asked, "Doesn't he get a warning again this time?" I'm thinking, "What was the first yellow chunk of plastic for again???"
A few more of us out there goes a long way to teaching players, and coaches, to mind their manners and behaviour. Most who see us more than once are glad we're the ones handling the match even though we never call "hand ball", seem to be blind to "off side", have kicked at least one of them (coach or player) out of a game several weeks earlier, and somehow manage to get through this one with only 0-2 cards shown. Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer It took more courage to give the second penalty than the first. Well done to you for dealing with a player that obviously didn't want to finish the match.
Regards,
