View Referee Chuck Fleischer profile Answer provided by Referee Dawson 10/10/2005Each league has its own policy but there are clinics for the mini youth which could introduce young referees to the start of officiating. In youth matches at the u-12 competative level I prefer 16 years old maturity wise but know of a few 14 year olds that seem to be able to cope well. It is CRUCIAL that young referees recieve proper training and ONGOING support and mentoring otherwise we set them up to fail..Cheers
