Question Number: 10109Law 17 - Corner Kick RE: Rec Under 16 jorge of goleta, CA usa asks...In a corner kick if the player touches the flag will the kick be repeted or what should be the proper start Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer Jorge normally touching the flag is not a problem. The kicker may return it to a vertical position but he should refrain from moving it out of a vertical position. If the flag is in a player's way he can always kick the ball with his other foot... ..Regards,

View Referee Chuck Fleischer profile Answer provided by Referee Dawson 10/10/2005Hi Jorge,.assuming the player is not jerking it out of the ground or pushing to the ground to make the kick easier where we could caution such action if it persisted. I generally tell the player leave the flag alone unless it constitutes a problem ie as in a strong wind blowing it accoss the arc. I have allowed another player to hold the flag upright as the other kicked it and have actually had flags pulled and substituted a kit bag or cone as they were broken or unsafe. .Cheers
