View Referee MrRef profile Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson Well was the ball in active play or was there a stoppage?
If play was already stopped then the act is ONLY misconduct (applicable cautionable or send off offences still apply) the restart remains the same for why play was stopped.
A thrown object is a form of striking with the hand thus a PENAL foul. The question you must ask yourself is did your clases cover the restart for thrown objects? LOCATION of the foul is it where the keeper throws the ball or where the ball hits or would have hit the player?
So ask yourself
Was the ball in play?
Was the foul against an opponent?
Did the foul occur on or off the field?
Great the criteria of a foul has been met thus no dropball is possible now we need the type of foul and location for restart after we ensure application of applicable cautionable or send off misconduct
What type of foul occurred
Where on the field did the foul occur?
