Question Number: 18696Law 4 - Players Equipment 4/5/2008RE: Rec Under 17 Garrett of Jacksonville, Florida United States asks...IS it legal to wear metal cleats (soft ground) in rec soccer? Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson Hi Garret, as long as they are not restricted under competition rules, it will depend on whether in the opinion of the referee they are dangerous or safe. The league or association under which you play may have a policy in place that states they cannot be worn. If the competition bylaws include this restriction the referee is duty bound not to allow them. Cheers

Trouble is youngish players wear them from the parking lot to the field, they develop sharp edges and are dangerous from then until they are sanded round again.
