Question Number: 18815Law 4 - Players Equipment 4/19/2008RE: Under 13 Celery of Dublin, Ireland asks...Can a player wear a tight woolen hat when playing? Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson Technically while not part of the dress code per law 4 neither is it in my opinion unsafe and in cold weather it is more than necessary here in Canada . As long as no hard button or emblems are sewn into the material I generally have no issue when it is required especially in near freezing temperatures for recreational play. .Head gear in my opinion unless unsafely used as in padding to intimidate another player is fine although a matter of discretion left to the referee, his match, his decision, his reputation. Certain religious apparel have created needless controversy as sports safe for both Sikh (turbans) and Muslim (headscarf’s) are readily available.
