Question Number: 18959Law 11 - Offside 5/1/2008RE: Rec Under 12 James Bussell of Great Mills, MD 20634 asks...If a player shoots on goal and hits the crossbar or post and his teammate who was in an offside position when he shot taps it in, does the goal count or should offside be called? (the ball does not touch the goalie or an opponent) (Similar to my recent question #18924) Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol Offside, no goal. This is defined in Law 11 Decision 2: "Gaining an advantage by being in that position means playing a ball that rebounds to him off a post or the crossbar having been in an offside position or playing a ball that rebounds to him off an opponent having been in an offside position."
