Question Number: 19028Law 4 - Players Equipment 5/8/2008RE: middle school Under 15 paul of greenville, north carolina usa asks...can a player wear a cast during a middle school game Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol You will have to check your school rules. Middle schools often have their own unique rules, depending on the level of control of the State High School Athletic Association. Individual school systems may also have more restrictive rules due to liability concerns.
Many schools use the NFHS rules, which allow a cast to be worn, if the player has a medical release from the doctor. The cast must be padded so that in the opinion of the referee it does not endanger any player.
