Question Number: 19084Law 3 - Number of Players 5/14/2008RE: Competitive High School Daniel of London, Ontario Canada asks...This question is a follow up to question 19029 Ok thank you. However, if a player who has been sent off abruptly returns to prevent said opportunity from materializing, then is that player deemed to be an outside agent?
With a drop ball restart?
I'm wanting to establish what to do when extra persons enter the field.
Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson Hi Daniel, if the entity who comes into the field is a sub/player (a) on a caution then this is a guaranteed 2nd caution and he is sent off indfk out (b) If he is ALREADY been sent off then he is an outside agent and a drop ball restart. Mind you the review disciplinary committee reading the match report is going to slam this dolt big time and perhaps wonder why the referee restarted with this guy still in attendance?
If the entity is simply a spectator, coach, parent, dog etc..as an outside agent it is always a drop ball restart from where the ball was subject to law 8 special circumstances in the goal area. Provided no safety reason exists to terminate the match due to spectator interference. The team denied the goal is likely to want to lay a beat down on the boob from the crowd who interferes. A referee must not restart unless reasonably confindent the security risk is removed . Cheers

View Referee Richard Dawson profile Answer provided by Referee Keith Contarino If you're trying to establish what to do when outside agents enter the field and touch the ball, it's a dropped ball. This applies to dogs, cats, ducks, coaches, parents, geese, coyotes, rabbits, squirrels, persons not on the roster card that may be sitting in the team's technical area and players that have been sent off. (and any other creature you can think of that may interfere).
