Question Number: 21244League Specific 4/30/2009RE: Rec Adult Matthew Ross of Maple Glen, PA USA asks...I am getting my Level 8 Ref license. For regular season games, our league hires a ref and uses two club linesman. I would like to get some experience. Can there be one AR and one club linesman. Answer provided by Referee Keith Contarino There can be 1 club linesman, no club linesmen, 2 club linesmen, 1 AR, 2 Ars , no AR. I personally do not like working with club linesmen. Remember, they are not referees and the only authority they have, unless your League has some idiotic rule, is to judge when the ball is out of play. When I use a club linesman I tell him to stand at the corner flag and raise his flag only if all of the ball crosses over all of the touchline or goalline.
