View Referee Gary Voshol profile Answer provided by Referee Jason Wright The referee still allows the game to go ahead, but may report any suspicions which would then be investigated. If a team does throw a game then they could be considered to be bringing the game into disrepute. Punishment can vary wildly, but it could possibly, as Gary said, include a life ban. Considering you're asking about high school, the school itself may take their own disciplinary action against anybody involved. If theres bribery or other underhand activity involved it also may become a police matter with potential criminal charges. Punishment for throwing a match varies too wildly for us to be able to give you any real idea of what's likely to happen (also rules, police and laws regarding these things can be greatly different from country to country), but the consequences could be dire indeed.
