Question Number: 22819Law 4 - Players Equipment 2/13/2010RE: i play grass root football Under 15 Nathan of Newport, Mayo Ireland asks...Will I be able to wear Soft Ground Boots in Grass Root football (under age football)? I will be worrying about the boot check Answer provided by Referee Michelle Maloney If the game you are describing is played under the Laws of the Game, then your boots must qualify as safe to play in. That determination is up to the referee. As long as the boots don't have sharp points or rough edges that could hurt another player, or have other safety issues, they should be fine.

View Referee Gary Voshol profile Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Nathan If the game is outdoor on normal grass then there is no difficulty whatsoever and you will be allowed to wear regular football boots. In fact if a player turned up with trainers and every player was wearing football boots the referee might not allow that to happen. If the game is on an artifical grass surface players will usually not be allowed to wear studded boots at underage level. Indeed many facilities don't allow them because they damage the playing surface. More importantly you should also have a pair of shinpads as they are compulsory.
