Question Number: 23310Law 17 - Corner Kick 5/15/2010RE: rec Under 10 Bradley of Columbia, MO U.S.A. asks... The other team did a corner kick and it went in nobody touch the ball ( everyone accept the person that got the kick.)The ref called it no goal but my dad, the coach, said 'It should have counted' but wasn't sure. Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol Law 17 says, 'A goal may be scored directly from a corner kick, but only against the opposing team.' You don't mention which goal the ball went in. If the opponents kicked a corner kick directly into your goal, the goal should have been counted. Having said that, I see this is a U10 rec question. Many u-little rules specify that all kicks are indirect. If that is the case, the referee would be correct in not counting the goal.

However in small sided games, a rulemay be present that may prevent this. All refreees know Law 17 and I would be surprised if it was disallowed incorrectly. You should check with the competition organisers. Also there is nothing wrong with seeking clarification politely from any referee after the game. Most are happy to oblige.
