RE: all levels Adult

edward krenz of london, engald asks...

When a player is sent off, the referee will produce a red card; however i've noticed some are round. is there a standard on shape and size, or can you only get round ones.?

Answer provided by Referee Stacy Kalstrom 10/23/2001

There is no standard in the USA. The ones I typically see/use are rectangular in shape.

Answer provided by Referee Gary Sebalja 10/26/2001

No there is no standard, you are quite free to make you own desgin as you wish so long as you stick to two simple rules one is red and one is yellow. Joking aside as Ms. Kalstrom has mentioned they are normally rectangular and can fit easily in a small wallet. There are small ones and larger ones, some are brighter and some are write-on. hope that helps.
