Question Number: 31881

Law 11 - Offside 10/9/2017

RE: Travel League Under 17

Tom Schaller of Oak Park, IL USA asks...

This question is a follow up to question 31878

Thank you all for responding. I did see the friend referee the next day and he admitted that he was wrong.

It was all around a strange day: first to see that he could be wrong and then in my subsequent game I had to remove a....... TURTLE from the field of play, which had crawled all the way to the center circle without anybody noticing.
Thx

Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson

HI Tom ,
turtle?? well where was the hare? lol I have a lot of things on the field but never a turtle. lol I once had over 1000 Canadian geese oh my how the grass was lush and green amid the poop. I had a camper girl & guy we had to wake up so they could evacuate the centre circle before the morning game. I have black bear, moose, deer, mountain goat, numerous dog, occasional squirrel or chipmunks, no cats oddly enough, although they did frequent we did see a cougar , it never really came onto the field more so slinked about he bushes along the touchline. Eagles, seagulls and large birds often liked the lush fields for picking up the worms and I recall a couple getting hit with the ball We did have bats at the twilight dive bombing keepers and a small bee swarm that sent the allergic keeper running. Horseflies & deerfly's & mosquitoes that made certain games almost unbearable. Those in Winnipeg can attest to mosquitoes. Most unpleasant playing conditions no added time lol
Cheers

Hi Tom
Unlike my colleague Referee Dawson the only animal I have ever had to deal with is a dog. Rather limited wildlife in this part of the world.
