RE: Rec Under 17

James of Sydney , NSW Australia asks...

Hi, i was doing the test for how to become a ref and am stuck on law 17 I've tried every combination yet still cant get the right answer. The question is here.

Choose which statements are correct for both Goal Kicks (Law 16) and Corner Kicks (Law 17):

Both are methods of restarting play

Both are awarded after the ball has passed over the goal line

Opponents must be the same distance away from the ball at both

The ball is in play from both immediately after it has been kicked

A goal can be scored directly against the opponent from both

An own goal can be scored directly from both

Answer provided by Referee Peter Grove

Hi James,
If you're studying to be a ref, I would say it's better to be able to get the answers by becoming as familiar as possible with the Laws of the Game and also to know where to look up the information if you're not 100% sure.

To that end, here are the links to the sections on Laws 16 & 17:

If you read through these sections, you will be able to find the correct answers - and having found them yourself, I think you'll be more likely to be able to remember them.
