RE: High School

Tim Kessler of Homer, AK USA asks...

In the new rule changes for high school they have added signals for the referee when calling fouls. The only thing I have been able to find out about these signals is that they were signals that used to be used in 1994-95. There is no picture of them in the rule book. I have searched everywhere for an example of the signals but have been unable to find them. Will it really matter that much if I do not use the signals? If it does matter then where can I find an example of these signals? Hope you can be able to help.

Answer provided by Referee Stacy Kalstrom

I have the 2001-2002 NFHS Rule Book and it shows the signals for the assistant referee on page 82 and for the referee on page 90. The signals you use for USSF games will do just fine as they are almost the same with a couple of slight differences...Good luck and enjoy your games.
