Law 14 - Penalty kick 10/20/2003

RE: region iii Under 15

mike fields of birmingham, al asks...

Is there such a thing as advantage to a PK.Player kicks ball, goalie is off the line. AR raises his flag to indicate this. Goalie knocks ball away, charging player kicks ball in goal. Should goal be awarded or a re-kick?

Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer 10/20/2003

If the whistle has not blown let the keeper's movement off the line slide and give advantage verbally. If there is another penalty kick mention to the keeper you saw it and gave advantage. It he persists in his violation of Law 14 a caution awaits. That should end that.....Regards,

I agree with ref Fleischer, let the goal stand and have a quiet word with the keeper to warn him.

It would have to be a quick attacker for this to happen, most referees would have blown for a restart before this happened.
