Question Number: 6783

League Specific

RE: slovak mens league div 3 Adult

Laurie Farmer of bratislava, urgent slovakia asks...

I am the president of a football club in Slovakia for which our main league team plays third division (this year we were promoted and are 5th position)..After three years doing this it is very clear that referees are involved in Match Fixing. There are also consistent late changes of referee for paticular matches , with some clubs having regularly the same referee for league matches, and serious questions can be asked over the quality of refereeing (knowledge and fitness)...My question is what can we do to help clean up the game when the referees are a closed tight club and the football association is taking no action. Is there a higher platform in FIFA that our evidence can be reviewed, or is the only solution televised matches...We have thursday this week a meeting with the tribunial of the Slovak football federation and in two weeks with the Chairman to discuss this in detail. I believe this will not help, so we need, for the interests of the young players, some guidance as to whom we can involve, perhaps this is FIFA....Laurie Farmer.President SK Lab.Slovakia

Realise you are on thin ice when you accuse a National Organisation of tolerating referees who cheat. ..Regards,

Answer provided by Referee Victor Matheson

After years of officiating, all I can tell you is that while referees are commonly of poor quality, they are rarely of poor character. What appears to biased eyes as cheating is most commonly to an unbiased eye simply a mistake.
