Law 7 - Match Duration

RE: Select Under 14

Bruce Pocock of sacramento, CA sacramento asks...

Question:.An offensive player on a break away is fouled just outside the opponents penalty box. The referee calls for a direct kick, and as the player is about to kick the ball the referee blows his whistle and ends the first half of the game. ..Don't the rules provide for the continuation of play to the team with the advantage, regardless of the time.

Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer

Answer provided by Referee Gary Sebalja 12/12/2003

Some what similar to basketball where they may continually foul near the end of the game to secure a win, it is not the pretty side of both games but the game has to end at some stage and it is only a PK that extends the end of the game.
