Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct

RE: Under 14

Giorgio of New York, N.Y America asks...

but if you tell the ref something in your own language he cant do nothing about it if he dont understand he can only asume its bad which really it is or isnt?

Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer

Giorgio you have a lot of growing up to do. When you use derogatory language or offer insults in your own language your facial expressions give you away. ..Lassen Sie das Thema fallen. ..Caiga el tema. ..Laissez tomber le sujet. ..Drop the subject...Cada l'oggetto. ..Those are the four languages of football and one you may understand better. If you choose to curse referees in your language and they choose to send you off you might want to take up a hobby to fill all the spare time you'll have.

Answer provided by Referee Keith Contarino

Why take the chance anyway? Tone of voice is enough to let the referee card you. You need to spend more time developing some maturity and less time figuring out how to cuss the ref and get away with it.

Answer provided by Referee Morley

You would be surprised how many refs can understand swear words in a variety of languages. Simple answer, don't do it and therefore you won't run the risk!
