Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct

RE: Semi Pro Adult

christo janson of Cape Town, RSA South Africa asks...

Goodday Referee,.I caused a deliberate hand ball in my opponents half (not in a goal scoring position) and i was red carded. The hand ball was in the run of play.Is the red card the prober caution i got?

Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer

One must have seen the act to make that determination, I didn't -- the match referee did. He found it necessary to order you off. ..I expect he had good reason to do so, denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity is one, a second caution in the same match is another as is insulting, abusive or insulting language and/or gestures. ..Don't do it again and you won't get ordered off. ..Regards,

Answer provided by Referee Morley

You should only have been sent off if in the referees opinion you denied an obvious goal scoring opportunity. Don't forget that it is the referees opinion and not yours that counts in this situation.
