RE: National / International Adult

Steve of Belmont, NC USA asks...

I am a grade 8 referee and throughly understood that we should be wearing black boots, yet, in yesterday's USA v England Friendly, the CR was wearing what appeared to be red boots. .What gives? who does his assessment?

Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer

The match inspector would be from FIFA on that match. Keep wearing your black ones... ..Regards,

Answer provided by Referee Gartenhaus

Steve,.I don't know if you noticed it, but the US keeper (Kasey Keillor) was wearing a yellow shirt which was the same shade as that of the referee team's jerseys. I think that in the US too much is made of this type of thing. If you watch a lot of international matches you see this a lot more often. ..Thanks for writing.
