Why do I want to be part of the asktheref.com team?
Myths pervade the beautiful sport. TV Announcers, coaches, players, parents, even referees only make it worse by spread misinformation. A site such as this helps to spread proper information. This helps build the game, make for a better work environment for referees, and improves the overall sport.
Soccer has been an integral part of my life for over 30 years. It has brought some pain and anguish, but more joy and camaraderie than I can ever describe. The sport has given me so much, that it is incumbent on me to give back, and provide those same chances for "the next generation".
My wife of 14 years is a band geek with no interest at all in soccer :-(. That's okay - we only met because I was in band too! :-)
Our 12 year old, though is an enthusiastic soccer spectator. He loves to watch his hero (Mark Geiger - my former AR!) perform his duties. He often sits in the replay booth with me at PPL Park, offering to go "knock on their door" and correct the silly things the broadcast announcers are saying.
