Question Number: 14817

League Specific 2/8/2007

RE: pro Professional

vahidmolaei of rasht, gilan iran asks...

dear sir
my questions is about futsal rules:
1- can start the game without goalkeeper?if a team have seven players.can play without goalkeeper?
2- may use of goalposts tht is not circle?

Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson

I thought we just answered this?

I suspect the number of players for futsal to be less than outdoor minimum of 7 but what ever the number is you need a keeper and any player can assume that role by wearing a jersey that seperates him from the other players! The goal posts and crossbar are 8 cm and can be either oval round or square as long as they aresafe ie no sharp edges hooks etc and are SECURLY fastened

Answer provided by Referee Ben Mueller

No, someone must wear the funny colored shirt. The keeper is just like another player and is free to go where they would like. Someone just msut wear the shirt. Law 1 states the goal post and cross bar must be same depth and be made of same shape. That shape may be rectangular, circular, etc as long as its NOT dangerous.
