Question Number: 14861

Law 5 - The Referee 2/18/2007

RE: Adult

mishal of kuwait, kuwait kuwait asks...

How many times the referee run compairing to the player?

Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson

Hi Mishal,
I can not clearly understand what you are asking?
If you are from Kuwait perhaps english is not your spoken language and you are asking if a player can dissent (complain) to a referee? If so then that complaint (s) had better be minor or not TOO personal not TOO public and not TOO persistant or they reach a point wherea referee will caution and show a yellow card if the player goes too far in THAT referee's opinion

As referees we rarely complain or compare ourselves to players as that is not what we are there for . We strive to be neutral and concious of the players safety and reality of the competative nature of the game! We alow some emotional outbursts and consider what is said with how, when and why. If you are comparing how much we run or move about on the field to a player it has been said that a referee can run the equivelant of 12 miles in a match. A referee must move constantly to stay with play so it is likely we do more than most players.
Cheers

Answer provided by Referee Ben Mueller

Depends on the ref. Key is not to have the center circle named after you. Also, depends on the game. If ball is sitting on 1 end of field, then a lot less than if ball is moving up and down field.

Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer

The referee runs more than a midfielder. Then comes the attacker and then the defender. The goalkeeper dresses funny.
