carolina of Cincinnati, ohio usa asks...

An opponent attempts a hard slide tackle that makes contact with the player but not the ball. The referee should:
A. Allow play to continue, according to the advantage clause
B. Stop play and award a direct free kick
C. Stop play, restart with a drop ball
D. Stop play and award an indirect free kick
