Question Number: 14916Law 3 - Number of Players 2/27/2007RE: rec Other carolina of Cincinnati, ohio usa asks...A ball in play is about to roll out of bounds, but before it does, the ball strikes a substitute who is standing on the touch line, causing the ball to stay in the field of play. The referee should:
A. Stop play and give a throw-in to the opposing team
B. Stop play and restart the game with a drop ball
C. Allow play to continue
Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol I was informed that I was really harsh with Emily once when she did this. I must admit, she did get a good chewing out instead of a caution, but it was only U10.

View Referee Gary Voshol profileAnswer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer The substitute entered without permission, caution and remove the substitute. Play is restarted with an indirect free kick at the point where the ball was when play was stopped, subject to the special circumstances of Law 8. This is true in all US Rules.
