If the players choose to stick together and not give up the offender and the choice is up to the referee could he chose the keeper? [14579]

No. It's impossible for the keeper to DOGSO by handling the ball inside his own penalty area.

Hi JIm, absolutely NOT the keeper by definition is incapable of a handling DOGSO inside his own penalty area
Sending-Off Offences
A player, substitute or substituted player is sent off and shown the red card if he commits the following offence:
4. denies the opposing team a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (this does not apply to a goalkeeper within his own penalty area
