RE: Adult

Matt I of Hemel Hempstead, Herts U.K asks...

Here is a light-hearted one for you!
Here in the UK, there is a popular national radio station, devoted to sport, and being in the UK, focuses mainly on football (soccer).
There is a lot of banter and fun on the shows, and last week, they decided to ask (mainly rhetorical) "Why is it?" questions, such as "Why is it, after a 'keeper has just pulled off an outstanding save, he will berate the nearest defender?" LOL!
However, they did ask one question, which had me wondering...

"Why is it, that ARs have flags with different coloured trim on them?"

Having run the line on far too many occasions to remember, it's something that I have noticed, but never given a seconds though to!

Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer

Perhaps it is because the assistants provide their own flags and they only have the one. In the US we ALL have two flags and mostly they are the same colour. Sometimes there's a solid red and yellow flag in some one's bag. My first flags were grey and light pink ones from Adidas, England.

Berate a colleague for letting the opposition have a shot that nearly went in? One wonders...

Regards,

Good question. I use the bright colored flags that are easy to see. I also own the red and yellow flag set.
