Question Number: 15127Other 4/6/2007RE: select High School al watkins of athens, tn usa asks...a player on our team made took a shot on goal which was clearly going in and another player kicked the ball in as it was crossing the goal line..who gets the goal? the ref credited the second touch..i say the goal was an obvious goal and the second touch was unnecessary and player one should get credit..who is right? Answer provided by Referee Ben Mueller Whoever touches it last before it crossed the goal line and went on.

last player to touch the ball before it fully crosses the goal line under the crossbar and between the posts gets the credit, provided that no infringement of the Laws of the Game has been committed previously by the team scoring the goal!
