Chris Arts of Butler, NJ USA asks...

When a team is awarded a throw-in...the player throws the ball to his goalie, who is outside his box. The goalie plays it with his feet and dribbles it back into his box. Can the goalie now pick up the ball with his hands?

Nope. He received it directly from a teammate and may not subsequently handle the ball until it has touched another player

No. It would be IFK for opponents.

Keeper gets forty lashes and an indfk is awarded to his opponents at the point of the hand to ball contact and is forever banished from the sand box also known as the penalty area. This is point 4 on the list of the 4 keeper handling restrictions

An indirect free kick is awarded to the opposing team if a goalkeeper, inside his own penalty area, commits any of the following four offences:

takes more than six seconds while controlling the ball with his hands before releasing it from his possession

touches the ball again with his hands after it has been released from his possession and has not touched any other player

touches the ball with his hands after it has been deliberately kicked to him by a team-mate

touches the ball with his hands after he has received it directly from a throw-in taken by a team-mate
