Question Number: 15255

Law 4 - Players Equipment 4/23/2007

RE: Competitive Under 15

rose of bloomington, IN US asks...

what is the rule for slider pants? my friend said that you can wear white slider shorts if there is that color somewhere on your uniform.(i.e. red shorts with white addidas symbol on them. i thought you can only wear red. who is right?

Answer provided by Referee Steve Montanino

You are supposed to wear an undergarment that is the same color as the primary color of the shorts that you are wearing. In this question that would be red. A minor change to how this aspect of Law IV is worded will come into effect this July. Look for it when they publish the new laws of the game!

Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer

Ref Montanino mentions a minor change in Law 4. Well it isn't all that minor it is going to be kind of earth shattering and will create boatloads of trouble for referees who care enough to know the Laws.

The little change is a visible undergarment worn under the jersey must be the same color as the predominant color of the jersey. Sound familiar?

Regards,
