Question Number: 15387Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 5/5/2007RE: Rec Under 7 Joe of Rochester Hills, MI US asks...Coed team K-4th grade. Throw in, two kids go for the ball, (1) with foot, (2) other with knee. The knee gets kicked while in presuit of the ball. Should I given a penalty call, and a free kick? Answer provided by Referee Keith Contarino At this age group you need to call things very tightly because the skill level is so low. I tend to call a lot of trips and/or kicks to keep them from hurting themselves. As they become more skilled, my tolerance increases.
