Question Number: 15690Law 14 - Penalty kick 6/3/2007RE: Rec Under 10 April Loken of Mckinney, Texas U.S.A. asks...When I was young playing on a select team I had to shoot a penaly kick. I was not very good at this and my friend who was an all state player, had me kick the ball a little in front of me then I quickly moved to the side as she Booted it in for a goal. The other team's coach protested that it did not count. Now that I am a coach, I was woundering if that is legal or not? Answer provided by Referee Keith Contarino absolutley legal. The ball is in play when it is kicked and moved forward

I'm wondering why you "had" to take the PK. Why not just let your teammate with the better kick take the PK in the first place? And I expect that this play might work only once.
