Question Number: 15699Law 3 - Number of Players 6/4/2007RE: Competitive Under 13 Maury Higgins of Lincoln, Nebraska USA asks...Our girls u12 team was playing a tournament game when our forward ran into the goalie of the opposing team who was outside of her goalie box trying to control the ball with her feet. I actually think the ref was correct in giving our player a yellow card. I'm just wondering if the goalie is treated like any other player when she is outside of the box. Answer provided by Referee Ben Mueller The keeper is treated like any other player if he is in or out box. Only exception is that the keeper can handle the ball inside penalty area. Referee needs to evaluate what happend and make a decicision on the facts. Despit popular belief, the keeper should not be allowed any leeway per LOTG.
