As long as you don't use your foot the keeper may legally handle the ball received in this manner inside his own penalty area

That depends on how it is volleyed. If it involves the foot from the keeprs teammate, then the keeper cannot handle the ball. He may play it in any other manner.

A volley usually refers to using the foot to play the ball without it touching the floor. If this is the case the keeper is obligated to play the ball without hands or arms.
