Question Number: 15785Law 11 - Offside 6/13/2007RE: Competitive Under 18 Scott Stevenson of Oakville, ON canada asks...A question a 4th year referee should not be asking, but usually in the leagues i ref players don't have the skill to kick the ball past half on a goal kick, but is it possible for a player to be offside on a goal kick? Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol You're right, this is something any referee shouldn't have to ask. It's not even hidden anywhere - it's right in the Laws 11, under the heading "No Offense".
If you do work in games where kicking the ball over the half line is possible, you might also remember that a punt or drop kick is NOT a restart, and offside DOES apply.
