Question Number: 15926Other 7/2/2007RE: 1 Under 14 Joe of Burlington, Ontario Canada asks...Ok, let's say you are a left midfielder, and the ball is on the right side of the field. Do you stay o your side and do nothing or go over to the right side and play? Answer provided by Referee Steve Montanino Joe,
That would be a discussion you need to be having with your coach - us Referee's aren't going to be able to give you an answer. Only your teammates and your coach can tell you - as every system of play is different and so is every team.

You move towards the ball as a team taking away passing lanes, creating pressure, denying space and remembering it takes several seconds for a ball to reach the opposite side of the field. Talk to your coach hopefully he can tell you or show you what I am talking about! Cheers
