Question Number: 15975Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 7/8/2007RE: Other travis remell of edmonton, canada asks...is it tru u can pass the ball to the goalie with ur head, chest and knee and he can pik it up? Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol That's true. The prohibition in Law 12 is that the goalkeeper cannot handle a ball that has been deliberately kicked to him by a teammate.
If the teammate engages in some trickery to get around this part of the Law, play should be stopped and the player cautioned. The caution happens whether or not the goalkeeper actually picks up the ball. An example of trickery is if the player flicks the ball up with his foot so that he can head it toward the keeper.
Was this information not covered in your referee training class? It should be part of the original certification class.
