Question Number: 16112

Law 13 - Free Kicks 7/24/2007

RE: select Under 16

megan of san fransisco, california america asks...

If there is an indirect, offence, free kick taken and it goes strait into the goal without it touching anyone. Should the ref award the goal? If not what is the decision?

Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol

No, the ref would not award the goal because the kick was indirect. If the ball went into the opponent's goal, the restart would be a goal kick. If the ball went into your own goal, the restart would be a corner kick for your opponents.

Answer provided by Referee Ben Mueller

Megan - I do not want to be rude here, but your questions can be answered by reading the Laws of the Game. Go to FIFA.com and print yourself a copy and read it. Encourage your teammates to do the same. I know that being 16 you are very busy, but your understanding of the laws would be much better if you would simply pick it up and read it. Theres only 17 laws...read 1 law a day, That will take you 5 minutes or less per day.
