Question Number: 16153Law 14 - Penalty kick 7/28/2007RE: Recreational League Other TC of minneapolis, minnesota USA asks...If I take a penalty kick, when I kick the ball, can my motion carry over, to run a few steps after or must I stop at the line? Thank You. Answer provided by Referee Gil Weber TC, as soon as the ball moves forward it is in play. Assuming all players were properly positioned and neither team has violated Law 14 prior to the ball being put into play (for example, by encroaching within 10 yards of the penalty mark) then at that moment all players of both teams are free to move anywhere they wish on the field. There are no restrictions what-so-ever.
