sarah of Klamath Falls, OR usa asks...

i heard that i cant wear any dark colored sock or socks that had strips on them do you know why that is?

Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson

Hi Sarah, are you asking as a referee or player? Tradition is the black socks with white stripes for referees but not aware of any provision that prohibits other versions for players? Perhaps their is a local bylaw? Cheers

Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol

If you're talking about High School, they outlawed the "bumblebee" striped socks.

All team members should wear the same color socks, and they should be similar in color to the uniform. So if you are wearing a light color uniform, dark socks would be inappropriate. Those would be worn by your opponents in the dark uniforms.

Answer provided by Referee Steve Montanino

HS soccer has prohibited the striped socks. Outside of that your uniform socks must be... well, uniform (i.e. same color). (NFHS/ High school interpertation only).
