Question Number: 16756Law 9 - The Ball in and out of Play 9/17/2007RE: high school Under 18 nate pelkey of baxter , mn usa asks...the corner kick bent in the air from out of bounds to inbounds, then the offense scored off it, but the ref called it off, what is the official ruling on that? Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson Nate on a corner kick if the ball completely left the field of play outside the 5 inch goal line then reentered the field of play via the swerve then entered the goal the referee was correct in calling it off and awarding a goal kick. That was the official ruling on that seeing that is what the referee did yes? The AR watching across usually catches that one and raises his flag to indicate that play is to be stopped ! Cheers

Law 9 says, "The ball is out of play when it has wholly crossed the goal line or touch line whether on the ground or in the air."
